A girl meditates calmly on the mat

Some children crave movement, pressure and impact. Others notice every noise and texture. Martial arts works for both, because every bit of contact, sound and movement is planned and controlled.

For sensory seekers

  • Proper physical work. Pad work, rolling, balance and strength drills give children the movement and pressure their bodies are looking for.
  • Controlled contact. Jiu jitsu and partner drills give safe, structured pressure, always supervised and age-appropriate.
  • Energy with a purpose. Children learn to switch from full power to stillness on the instructor’s count.

For sensory-sensitive children

  • A predictable session. The same structure every week, so there are no surprises.
  • Breathing and calm-down skills. Short breathing resets between rounds give children a tool they can use anywhere.
  • Climate-controlled dojos. Comfortable all year round, in July as easily as January.
  • Small groups. Capped at 13 children, so the room never gets overwhelming.
  • Ear defenders welcome. Your child can wear them whenever they like.
  • A break space. Children can step out to a calm spot and rejoin when they are ready.

Questions parents ask

What parents of sensory seekers and sensory-sensitive children usually ask us.

My child finds new places hard. How do we start?

Come and visit first. Tell us about your child when you book and we will arrange a time to see the dojo and meet the instructor before the first session.

Does my child have to wear the uniform straight away?

No. Comfortable sports clothes are fine for the first session, and children can move into the uniform when they are ready.

My child is always on the go. Will that be a problem?

Not at all. Pad work, rolling and strength drills give sensory seekers the movement and pressure they are looking for, and they learn to switch from full power to stillness on the instructor’s count.

How much physical contact is there?

Contact is always controlled, supervised and age-appropriate. Partner drills build up gradually, and sparring only starts when a child is ready, with protective equipment.

How will we see progress?

The Breakthrough Area Assessment sets a starting point for confidence, conduct and concentration, and you have a monthly one-to-one call with your child’s instructor.

How much does it cost, and how do we start?

Memberships start from AED 898 a month. New families start with a VIP Pass for AED 199: an introduction session, a Breakthrough Area Assessment of your child’s confidence, conduct and concentration, and a goal-setting call with their instructor. Claim your VIP Pass.
