Pre Teens practising kicks at The Warrior Academy Dubai

Taekwondo is the kicking art, and children love it. Fast, dynamic kicks build flexibility, coordination and leg strength, and the discipline behind them builds focus. Kids taekwondo is part of every programme at our Dubai academies in Al Quoz, Arjan and Jumeirah Islands.

What your child learns in taekwondo

Children start with balance, stretching and simple front and side kicks, then build towards turning kicks, combinations and pad work with a partner. Every kick is taught with control, so children learn power and restraint together. Sparring is introduced gradually and only when a child is ready.

At The Warrior Academy taekwondo is taught alongside karate, jiu jitsu, boxing and Muay Thai in one syllabus and one belt system, so children develop hands, feet and ground skills together.

Kicking skills by age

The youngest children, Little Warriors (2 to 3), work on balance and coordination through games. Junior Warriors (4 to 6) learn their first front and side kicks, Senior Warriors (7 to 9) add turning kicks and pad combinations, and Pre Teens and Teens develop speed, height and timing. Family programmes are open to parents too.

Flexibility, focus and control

Good kicking needs flexibility, so stretching is part of every session, and the focus needed to hit a pad cleanly carries over to the classroom. With programmes capped at 13, instructors can correct each child’s technique, and parents hear how it is going in a monthly one-to-one call.

Questions parents ask

Is taekwondo good for young children?

Yes. It builds balance, flexibility and coordination early, and our Little Warriors programme starts from age 2 with short, fun sessions.

Will my child do sparring?

Only when they are ready, with protective equipment and close supervision. Most of the early training is pad work and technique.

Can girls do taekwondo?

Absolutely. Our programmes are mixed and many of our strongest students are girls.
